The Men and Women’s Golden Eagles soccer clubs are enjoying success heading into the heart of their respective schedules. Last year the Ladies went 14-2-2 and went all the way to the Region IV Championship game. Fast forward to this year and they’re 4-2-1 and on a 3 game winning streak, and perfect at home (1-0). They’re set to play the Joliet Junior College Wolves at home on Wednesday. The Lady Wolves are 7-1 and just suffered their first loss of the season.
Football season is back! Kicking off the month means franchises attempt to get the last trades and contract agreements nailed down before the first spike. The preseason provided fans a look at what they can expect to see in the 2018 NFL regular season. It’s time to see who can get their hands on another Lombardi Trophy. While the main headlines this preseason are the early Super Bowl picks, there is one headline that has the league surprised.
The outdoor track campaign is upon us with the spring weather and cool crisp air. These signs show track athletes across the nation are strapping on their spikes and waiting in anticipation for the weekend. Athletes will run their fastest, throw their furthest, and jump their highest. Young athletes usually have some sort of role model to look up and follow their example in hopes of becoming as great as they were. Each sport has their Michael Jordan.

The Rock Valley College women’s basketball team are National Champions! In an overtime championship game in Utica, New York, RVC beat the Roxbury Tigers 57-49 to claim the NJCAA Division III Women’s National Championship Title. This is RVC’s fourth National Championship in 6 seasons, and all titles have been won under Coach Misty Opat. Rock Valley College has been ranked #1 all season and they finished their season 33-2 with a 22-game win streak. The ladies last loss occurred almost 3 months ago on December 19, 2016.

The New England Patriots sealed their legacy with a thrilling 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons, making this Super Bowl victory the 5th of the dynamic duo of coach Belichick and quarterback Brady have won together. The 2016-17 quest for the Lombardi Trophy began rocky and eventually smoothed out, but had many sport pundits wondering if they would even make the playoffs. The Patriots are a fine tuned machine that does not disappoint and they showed up ready to play in the first game. New England started the season with a 4 game suspension of starting quarterback Tom Brady. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell handed the suspension as the final act of the league’s infamous investigation of “Deflate-gate.” That left the Patriots in an awkward situation to start the season.

Super Bowl 51 is airing Sunday, February 5th in Houston, Texas. Who do you have? Let’s start with the AFC Champions, the New England Patriots. Renowned quarterback Tom Brady and his offense have proven to be a force reckoned with out on the field.
Anyone who follows college football knows that select teams dominate the sport and have been doing so for some time. One team cannot be left out of that conversation, and their recent success in past years is proof. Alabama’s staggering victories and impressive performances have caught the attention of recruiters, fans and sports analysts. Since it’s inception in 1992, Alabama has won 7 SEC Championship Games tying the record for most wins in that conference with the University of Florida (1992, 1999, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016). The four times Alabama has won the SEC Championship game, they have also claimed the national title (in the span of eight years, they have claimed four national titles).
