There is more to college life than classes and exams. Exploring friendships and community is vital to supporting a college career. Because of this, there are multiple clubs available to RVC  students, everything from gaming to multicultural clubs exists for students. In the sea of clubs,  the local RVC Intervarsity chapter stands out for its unique experiences and fellowship.

This spring, students will be able to participate in men’s nights, women’s nights, and game nights. There are also specialty experiences available. “Intervarsity has two events coming up in April,” says Audrey Brilinski, secretary of RVC Intervarsity. “On Saturday, April 12th, we’re going to Devil’s Lake Park in Wisconsin. We’ll be having a group hike and spending time with each other as we enjoy God’s beautiful creation. We are also planning a Testimony Night sometime in April. This event will give our members an opportunity to share their testimonies  and stories.” In addition to specialty experiences, Intervarsity meets regularly on campus on  Mondays and Wednesdays at 1:30 pm. They meet in either Room 1224 or the Atrium. Mondays are dedicated to prayer meetings, while Wednesdays are Bible studies.

Other events include prayer nights, Jeopardy, and social events. Traditionally, these events are held during the evening at the end of the week. There are also camps available for weekend getaways during the winter.  Most of these events are free to attend, with most taking place at Rock Valley College’s main campus. These events have the goal of deepening one’s faith and achieving growth.

Kyla Otto, Intervarsity vice president, emphasizes that the chapter is open to everyone. “Our  Rock Valley chapter is one of many across the nation. You can find an IV on most secular college campuses. The RVC chapter is the largest club on campus! We have about 30 regular attenders  every week for Bible study, and even more who just come whenever they can.” She adds,  “Anyone can join. Intervarsity is not associated with a denomination, so if you’re a Christian, you don’t have to worry about that. We’re a very diverse group; all denominations, newly saved,  and lifelong Christians. If you don’t consider yourself to be a Christian, that’s ok too. Some people come because they are curious, have questions, or are just looking to make friends.”
