Five months after announcing its reopening, CD Source opened a new location in Loves Park on June 5, 2023, after the previous location burned down on the night of September 19, 2022.
Aron Rasnussen has been an employee at CD Source since 2001.
“It was really surreal,” Rasnussen said. “It’s like we were the same store nine months later, and nothing had changed.”
One challenge the company faced at first was finding new inventory. Fortunately, local music collectors started donating to the company. Not long after that, people started selling collections. The store was then able to acquire inventory quickly.
Rasnussen said, “We are here because of the community. So we hope to still be here for the community, for enthusiasts and record collectors, to discover us, and to keep ensuring these things find good homes.”
